Travel with Wonder: 3 Days Beijing Tour from Luoyang

Hi fans of Wonder,

This is our top travel consultant Wonder’s last dispatch, showing his awesome travel experience in Beijing like Forbidden City, Great Wall, Summer Palace etc.

“Arrived in Beijing at 5:30am and then took the public bus to Beijing Quanzi Youth Hostel. This hostel is very small with limited space. The only reason I chose it is due to the better location. This hostel is inside the old hutongs of Beijing. That’s one of the reasons too.

Since it is still too early to start the tour, I took a nap in the lobby. In the late morning, I went to the Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City. The weather today is really great.

Beijing Tiananmen SquareTo know more things about it, I rent one Automatic Guide. This is very useful. Where you stand, it will tell you the history of this building.

After exploring this incredible city for 3 hours, I took a walk in the Jinshan Park where is across from the Forbidden City. When you climb at the top of this park, you could see the Forbidden City clearer.

In the evening, I went for a dinner in Nanluoguxiang Alley with my friends of my junior high school. It’s an old street similar to the Kuanzhai Alley in Chengdu. Later, we went to the Shichahai area where was very noisy at night. Many bars are over there too.

On day 9, I went to the Mutianyu Great Wall and Ding Tomb. The weather was cloudy today. First, I went to the Ding Tomb. The underground palace was not as large as I thought. After that, I went to the Mutianyu Great Wall. Compared to the transportation to Badaling, it was more difficult to arrange the bus to Mutianyu part. I chose to take the cable car up to the Great Wall.

After climbing the Great Wall for around 2 hours, I took the slide down which was the first experience of that. It was a little exciting. If I have more time, I would like to spend more time on the Great Wall.

Wonder at Great WallOn Day 10, that’s the last day of my vacation. I went to the Summer Palace. From the name of this palace, you could guess it is better to come in summer. This palace is more about the Empress Cixi. Since it was winter, the natural sightseeing was not that good. But I like the Kunming Lake. Though it is frozen, I could still imagine it is very nice to see in spring and summer. The willow along the river must be very nice when spring is coming.

Summer PalaceOn the lake, you will see many people are skating too. My annual vacation in 2014 ended here and then I came back to Chengdu by night flight.”
